Mampoer Festival

DITSONG: Museums of South Africa (DMSA) is a custodian of the national heritage in cultural history, natural history and military history. The DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum, one of the eight museums of DMSA, distils mampoer, (as well as mampoer liqueur and witblits), through traditional distilling methods and aims to preserve this national heritage for generations to come.

As a result, DMSA will host the Mampoer Festival on 29 June 2024 (from 8 am) at DITSONG: Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum. Visitors can enjoy a variety of mampoer, witblits, and liqueurs for sale at the festival. There will be a flea market with approximately 80 stalls of various foods for sale, a beer garden, agricultural implements dating from the seventeenth century, museum tours, coffee grinding and candle making demonstrations, music, and much more. Tractor enthusiasts will enjoy a demonstration of veteran tractors chipping wood, threshing and milling mielies, engines, motors, and antique cars, including an electric highrider. Freshly baked bread from the 1880 clay oven will be on sale.

This will be a fun day for the whole family. While parents enjoy the above activities, children will be treated to tractor rides, jumping castles, games, and fun times with farm animals, such as miniature pony and camel rides and Boerboel puppies. Come and sing along with popular stars.

To book a stall, send an email to Julia on or call 082 895 7141.
