Voor Daniel begin boer het, het hy naam gemaak as fotograaf met vier fotoboeke agter sy naam. Nadat sy boek verskyn, hou hy ’n uitstalling van sy foto’s. Hy kry ’n e-pos van ene ‘Cyril’ wat navraag doen oor die Ankole se foto’s. Daniel besef aanvanklik nie dis Cyril Ramaphosa, toe nog vise-president, nie. Dié het ’n indrukwekkende Ankole-kudde op sy plaas. Daniel het saam met hom ’n boek, Cattle of the Ages, die lig laat sien. Cyril skryf, Daniel se foto’s word gebruik. Van dié foto’s is opgeveil om fondse vir ’n skooltjie in Mpumalanga in te samel en R215 000 is so geskenk.
